Group Counseling

Groups bring together a number of students sharing a common concern to provide an opportunity for support, skill building, and personal growth. Groups typically meet one to two hours weekly, and may run from 4 to 12 weeks per semester. Groups address issues concerning relationships, depression, anxiety, and career goals.

How Do I Register?
Many of these classes are filled through referrals by UHS counselors. Instead of just signing up, you'd first make an appointment to talk with a counselor, who could then introduce you to a range of therapeutic strategies. Please call 265-5600, ext. 2, to make an appointment.

You can sign up for some classes, like meditation, by contacting the group leader to confirm that space is available. Groups can also form throughout the semester to meet the needs of those interested.

In this group, we will explore how to stop struggling against anxiety and to face parts of our life that we have been avoiding. We will use experiential exercises to bring members into contact with the present moment and to cultivate greater acceptance of thoughts and feelings.
