Information for Parents Are you the parent of a UW-Madison student? Is your son or daughter planning to attend the University?
What is University Health Services? UHS provides basic medical and counseling services to enrolled UW-Madison students, paid for by the "segregated fees" collected when tuition is paid. We do not have an emergency room, nor are we equipped to handle conditions that need highly specialized care. We do, however, have a large staff of expert clinicians who work exclusively with students in Madison, and understand their needs and concerns. UHS has a strong relationship with other health care facilities in Madison and can make referrals when necessary. This Chart of Services details which general categories of care are available free to all students, and which might require extra coverage. If you are interested in medical insurance, read more about the SHIP Health Plan, a university-sponsored plan that provides comprehensive coverage for the services that UHS does not provide. Communicating with us about your student’s health Pharmacy There is a pharmacy on the 6th floor of the UHS building (333 East Campus Mall) with a range of medications and over-the-counter products, many at reduced student prices. Many students find it convenient to transfer prescriptions from their home pharmacy to UHS.
