Making Appointments

Call 265-5600 to schedule a travel consultation to determine which immunizations are needed and to obtain necessary medications.

Please note: There is considerable demand for Travel Clinic appointments so please book your travel appointment for at least six weeks prior to your departure date. Some vaccinations, for example, need to be administered more than one month before travel. If you have any questions, please call 265-5610.

Pre-Travel Appointments:

Call 265-5600 to make an appointment for a travel consultation to obtain necessary medications and to determine which immunizations you need. Immunization planning is done with your personal health in mind and may depend on factors including length of stay and your destination's environment (e.g., urban vs. rural, developed area vs. wilderness).

Make sure you have all routine immunization information with you when you come for the consultation. Pre-travel appointments are not needed for travel to Canada, Western Europe, Australia, or New Zealand, but all routine immunizations need to be current.

If HIV screening is required for travel abroad, you must have the screening done confidentially (using one’s name), not anonymously. When scheduling an appointment, mention that you need an identified HIV test for travel purposes.

Please note that this is different from a third-party-requested Travel Physical.

Post-travel Appointments:

Examination after travel is recommended for students in the following circumstances:

  • students who have a chronic health problem, such as diabetes, asthma, or autoimmune disorder;
  • experience illness within three months after returning;
  • may have been exposed to a potentially serious infectious disease while traveling;
  • spent more than three months in a developing country.

The Travel Clinic is on the 6th floor of the UHS building at 333 East Campus Mall. There is no charge for consultations, although there may be charges for specific immunizations.
