making an appointment

Group acupuncture is available on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons at UHS, 333 Campus Mall. Make appointments by phone (608-265-5600) or online using MyUHS.

Cost: The cost is $20 (cash only) paid directly to the acupuncturist at the start of treatment.

UHS Acupuncture services are not covered by the Student Health Insurance Plan. UHS does not bill insurance nor provide billing statements to submit for insurance reimbursement for acupuncture services.

Appointment intervals allow time to explain the complaint and receive treatment right away. While the best effort is made to maintain a timely schedule, occasionally a client’s needs may warrant a longer intake and treatment. If your condition requires lengthy discussion, please arrange time outside the UHS scheduled appointment to communicate with the acupuncturist.

Initial and follow-up intakes are private. Treatment takes place in a double or single room with others.

Expect to retain the acupuncture needles for at least 20 minutes. The average acupuncture session will last around an hour.

Patient Philosophy

The group acupuncture session is a synergistic experience. This model is efficient by encouraging more frequent and timely treatment. The number of sessions required to resolve an issue varies depending upon cause, severity, system involved, and/or location.

Everyone is responsible for his or her course of healthcare with lifestyle choices impacting most conditions and complaints. Oriental Medicine is not a magic pill and expectations should be reasonable based upon lifestyle choices and willingness to make necessary adjustments, compliance with suggested guidelines and prescriptions, etc.
