First-year and new transfer students: complete your violence prevention workshop
Sexual assault concerns me deeply, not just as the leader of this university, but as the mother of a college sophomore. The question on the mind of every parent dropping their son or daughter off at college is always “Will they be safe here?” I want to state unambiguously that every student has the right to be safe. Sexual violence and misconduct is unacceptable. Far too many sexual assaults are still happening, at UW and at campuses across the country.

Effective Fall 2016, all incoming first-year and transfer students will be required to participate in a two part violence prevention program. This effort is in response to the AAU Climate Survey on Sexual Assault and Sexual Misconduct recommendations and aspires to further empower incoming students with information, skills, and empathy to help prevent sexual assault and dating violence as part of the UW-Madison community.
