Hooray! A record year for flu shots
Druuuuum rooooll pleeeeease...We have two exciting announcements on the flu shot front.
UHS administered more flu shots to undergraduate, graduate, and professional students this semester than any previous year. To date, more than 14,000 students received their free flu vaccine from UHS.
The flu shot campaign began with a clinic on East Campus Mall where hundreds of students were vaccinated in four hours. Five outreach clinics across campus followed throughout the fall semester in addition to drop-in shots that were available at the main clinic.
Getting a flu shot protects yourself as well as those who are unable to get a flu shot.
“By participating in this year’s flu shot efforts, our students took an important step to support both their individual health and the health of the campus community,” says William Kinsey, medical director at University Health Services.
We're not done yet!
For the second consecutive year, UW-Madison won the Alana's Foundation College/University National Flu Shot Challenge.
Forty-two institutions participated in the challenge and were categorized based on enrollment with UW-Madison placed in the large school division. UW-Madison lead the challenge from the first week and logged 2,000 more challenge participants than its next closest competitor, the University of Texas at Austin.
Thank you, you're giving us all the feels (but not flu-like feels).
