Jake Baggott joins UHS as Executive Director
I’m excited to join the University of Wisconsin-Madison as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs overseeing health and wellbeing, and Executive Director of University Health Services. In this role, I’ll be a key advocate to promote, protect, and restore the health of all members of the campus community, foster a climate that values and exemplifies diversity and inclusion; and engage students in decisions that affect delivery of health care services.
I come to UW-Madison from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where I served as Assistant Vice President for Student Health and Wellbeing since 2015. I spent most of my childhood near Rudolph, a small town in central Wisconsin. I’m also a first generation college student and served 21 years in the U.S. army, retiring as a first sergeant. My work in college health spans more than 30 years and I’m an active member of the field’s most prominent organization, the American College Health Association.
It’s a privilege to join the staff at UHS—the nation’s top college health service. UHS has a strong reputation of providing value to the campus community through its medical, mental health, and prevention services. I’m eager to work with the dedicated team of staff and providers who are committed to providing high-quality health care.
I’m also thrilled to work with John Horn and Recreational Sports. Under John's leadership, we further promote the social, mental, and physical wellbeing of all members of the campus community. By aligning UHS and Rec Sports, we will be able to develop a more comprehensive strategy for keeping our campus healthy and well.
As we look ahead to meet the evolving needs of our diverse student population, there’s opportunity to be innovative and advance our high standards and innovations for the field of college health.
I look forward to meeting many of you. UHS is here to support you. If you need to connect with a medical or mental health provider, call us at 608.265.5600 or log in to MyUHS and schedule an appointment.
