Honoring Native American Heritage Month
We join the campus community in celebrating Native American Heritage Month along with the accomplishments and contributions that Native students, staff, and faculty have made—and continue to make—on our campus.
Native November honors the hundreds of different tribes and languages, and celebrates the history, tradition, and values of Native Americans. We appreciate the positive effect native peoples have had on the cultural development and growth of our campus and acknowledge the struggles and challenges they have faced and continue to experience.
We also recognize that communities of color are disproportionately impacted by issues such as oppression, prejudice, and inequitable systems of power and privilege. As a health care service, we are committed to supporting Native students through a variety of services, including our Student of Color and Men of Color groups, and our outreach at the Red Gym, and will continue to seek additional ways to collaborate with campus and community partners.
We encourage all UW-Madison students and community members to take engage in Native November events on campus.
