UHS laboratory services are processed and billed through UW Hospital and Clinics. Students must be registered at UW Hospital and Clinics before outside lab work is completed. Lab requests must be ordered by a UHS clinician or an outside healthcare provider. An appointment may be needed for a clinician to order the lab request, but no appointment is necessary to have lab work collected.
No appointment is needed for students who were ordered an antibody titer. Drop-in to the 6th Floor Green Clinic weekdays, 9 am to 4 pm.
Lab results ordered by a UHS provider are reported in the student’s electronic medical record and sent to the student via MyUHS (unless the provider and the student have made other arrangements). Lab staff are not authorized to discuss results over the phone.
Results from labs ordered by outside providers will be faxed to the ordering provider. The results will not be available in UHS medical records. The outside provider is responsible for communicating test results and providing follow-up.
Most lab tests ordered by a UHS provider are fully covered by the student health fee. If the lab tests are required as part of a third-party physical or study-related requirements (e.g., antibody titers), there will be a fee.
If an outside provider (such as a hometown provider or a specialist) requests a lab for you, students are responsible for the cost.

Students must bring the lab order with them or have it faxed to the UHS lab at 608-262-0946. The order should include the ordering provider name, address, telephone number, fax number, requested lab tests and diagnosis codes (for billing purposes).
