Transgender Awareness Week & Transgender Day of Remembrance
It’s important to recognize the complexities our trans Badgers face, ranging from the joy that can come from living as one’s authentic self to the pain caused by various systems of oppression, prejudice, and violence. We remember and honor transgender women of color, particularly black transwomen, who disproportionately experience violence in many forms.
For support around experiences of transphobia and opportunities to be in community, today and throughout the year, UHS provides services tailored to the transgender and gender nonconforming (TGNC) communities. These services include gender consultations, individual counseling, Let’s Talk and Hearts & Crafts in the GSCC, informed consent hormone replacement therapy (HRT), and the TGNC support and empowerment group which models honoring the balance between navigating the challenges TGNC students may face and experiencing gender euphoria
Web booking is available to schedule trans health medical appointments including surgical and other referrals, starting or continuing HRT, and other gender affirming healthcare. For information on joining the TGNC support and empowerment group, schedule an Access Appointment.
In the name of both remembrance and awareness, we simultaneously honor and empower transgender people in life.
