Violence Prevention Specialist
As the co-coordinator of the primary prevention programming for undergraduate students, Alex [they/them] administers the U Got This! program and co-supervises a team of Violence Prevention Peer Educators trained to deliver the GetWIse workshops. Additionally, Alex serves as the professional staff advisor of the student group, PAVE, and delivers victim advocacy services in partnership with UHS Survivor Services.
Their areas of interest include peer education pedagogies, social norms approaches to violence prevention, alcohol-facilitated sexual assault, and queer- and trans-inclusive prevention practices. Alex is committed to doing violence prevention work in ways that are transformative, relationship-centered, strongly rooted in anti-oppression frameworks, and in ways that center individuals with lived experiences of violence and marginalization (particularly Native women, LGBTQIA+ students, and students with disabilities).
