Biography
Dr. Painovich feels privileged to care for students through every stage of their academic experience at UW. As a board-certified family physician, she provides comprehensive primary care for everything from sudden illness and injury to ongoing health concerns, and has special interests in musculoskeletal medicine, women’s and gynecologic health, skin concerns, office procedures, migraine headaches, mental health, eating disorders, and complex conditions. She takes a hands-on approach to helping patients improve function and reduce pain through osteopathic manipulative treatment when appropriate.
Dr. Painovich believes the best health care begins with listening, partnering with patients, and helping them understand their health and navigate the health care system so they can make informed decisions with confidence. She appreciates that many students may be seeking care on their own for the first time. She recognizes that excellent care addresses mind, body, and spirit, and values the therapeutic benefits of developing trusting, long-term relationships. Whether they’re coming in for a new concern, managing an ongoing health condition, or focusing on preventive care, she strives to create a welcoming environment where patients feel heard, respected, and engaged in their own care.
Dr. Painovich has a longstanding commitment to medical education and enjoys supervising medical residents and training the next generation of health professionals. She also serves on the Board of the Wisconsin Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons, chairs their Student and Postgraduate Committee, and loves providing support for UW–Madison’s Pre-Student Osteopathic Medical Association (Pre-SOMA) chapter as their faculty advisor.
Personal interests
Dr. Painovich enjoys gardening, bicycling, theater, spending time with family, and volunteering at the Forward Gardens food pantry farm.
