Strategic Plan

Th University Health Services strategic plan clarifies why and how we work, our priorities, and our goals for the future. The plan was developed over 18 months of discussion with and feedback from staff across all areas of UHS. The strategic plan launched in May 2025.

  • Responsiveness to Student Needs: UHS exists to serve the UW-Madison student community. Living this value means centering and adapting to students’ changing needs and the impact on student wellbeing. Ensuring this requires ongoing conversation and consultation with our student community.
  • Collaborative Approach to Health: At UHS, collaboration means working adeptly within and across departments, with students, staff, faculty, and campus and community partners. Living this value involves interdisciplinary teamwork, shared responsibility, joint problem-solving, and leveraging collective expertise to achieve our goals.
  • Commitment to Health Equity and Inclusion: Living this value means designing services that resonate with diverse populations, actively seeking and valuing input, and ensuring that all students, as well as staff, feel seen and heard.
  • Quality with Compassion: At UHS living this value looks like accountability for outcomes, leaning on evidence-based practices, data-driven decision making, cultivating a culture of continuous improvement, understanding staff and students’ unique circumstances, and ensuring care is not just competent but also kind.
