Students and employees must bring their Wiscard and health insurance card or information to their vaccine appointments.

About the Vaccines

VaxPro, an approved vendor,  will be administering only thimerosal‑free vaccines this season.

VaxPro is providing the standard trivalent flu vaccine, which contains antigens from three influenza strains selected annually by the CDC to offer broad seasonal protection.

For COVID‑19, VaxPro will be administering Moderna’s updated 2025/2026 monovalent mRNA vaccine, cleared by the FDA. This vaccine is designed to target the spike protein of the Omicron LP.8.1 subvariant of the JN.1 lineage — the strain selected for the 2025/2026 season.

Vaccines Protect You and Others

  • During the fall semester, flu vaccines are no cost for all students. You must bring health insurance information to your appointment.
  • Everyone should be vaccinated annually. Students and employees with chronic health conditions—such as asthma, diabetes, or immune disorders—are at additional risk. Getting vaccinated helps protect each of us in addition to limiting the spread of infectious diseases like influenza and COVID-19.
  • The flu and COVID-19 won’t spread as fast in a highly immunized population.

Parking Information

Parking is not provided for vaccine appointments. The interactive campus map with public parking is available to view.

Is there a cost to receive a COVID-19 vaccine? Will it be covered by my insurance?

As of September 24, 2025, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services recommends COVID-19 vaccines for all Wisconsinites over six months of age. Based on this guidance from the state of Wisconsin, most health insurance plans are likely to cover the cost of COVID-19 vaccines for people in Wisconsin. We recommend students and staff members speak with their insurer to confirm coverage prior to receiving a COVID-19 vaccine.

If health insurance does not cover the COVID-19 vaccine, a student or employee can still access the vaccine and would be responsible for the full cost (estimated to be around $125).

If my COVID-19 vaccine is not covered by insurance, will the University cover the cost?

No, if health insurance does not cover the COVID-19 vaccine, the University will not cover the cost. You would be responsible for the full cost (estimated to be around $125). Payment would not be due at the UHS vaccine clinic and would be invoiced to you several weeks later.

Do I need to submit documentation of eligibility, a doctor’s note, or a prescription to receive a COVID-19 vaccine?

No, you do not need to provide documentation of eligibility, a doctor’s note, or prescription to receive a COVID-19 vaccine at UHS vaccination clinics. While some pharmacies like CVS and Walgreens require prescriptions for COVID-19 vaccines, this requirement does not apply to UHS vaccine clinics.

You will be asked by a medical professional to confirm that you have an underlying condition prior to receiving a COVID-19 vaccine at a UHS vaccine clinic. If you do not have an underlying condition, you can still receive a COVID-19 vaccination at a UHS clinic, but your insurance company’s coverage of the vaccine may vary.
