University Health Services Marketing & Health Communications handles media inquiries as well as internal and external communications for the organization.
To request an interview, please contact UHS Marketing & Health Communications according to the process below. Due to the volume of requests received, not all requests may be accommodated.
UHS is not part of UW Health, UW Hospital, or UW SMPH (although some of our providers have appointments at SMPH). To contact UW Health, please visit the UW Health Media Center.
Media Requests
- All media inquiries must be submitted UHS Media and Interview Request Form. We do not accept requests via email.
- We ask for as much notice as possible for live interviews with providers so that they can prioritize their clinical schedules and student care. Same- and next-day interviews are generally not possible for our staff.
- For media inquiries about UW–Madison, contact the Office of Strategic Communication.
Class Projects/Interviews
- If you are hoping to speak with a UHS staff member for a class project, please submit the UHS Media and Interview Request Form. We do not accept requests via email.
- You will be asked to provide information on your interview request, your class, a question list, and deadline.
- All requests related to interviews for a class must be submitted a minimum of 14 business days prior to the due date.
- For classes in which several students may hope to interview UHS staff on health topics, UHS may request to work with your instructor coordinate a group interview.
Photography Policy
Our responsibility to safeguard patient confidentiality and comfort extends to our reception rooms and other public areas. For that reason, no video or photography of any kind is permitted at UHS without the express permission of the UHS Marketing & Health Communications Manager or a UHS Director. A UHS staff member must accompany anyone approved to take video or photos in a UHS patient area. Permission must also be sought from the people in the reception room or other affected patient area.
This is not just our policy; it is our responsibility under HIPAA, the law that governs health care confidentiality.
Due to staffing and privacy restrictions, the majority of videos may only be shot on weekdays between 5 and 6 p.m.
