University Health Services (UHS) introduced a new resource to help connect students to the right care at the right time. With the new online symptom checker tool, available 24/7 on MyUHS, students can receive clinically supported recommendations based on their symptoms and health concerns.
When should I use the symptom checker tool?
The symptom checker tool can be used whenever you are not sure whether to seek care for a health concern. This could be a new or emerging issue, like an illness or injury, or an ongoing concern. Using the tool, you can find out how serious your symptoms are, if a health care visit is needed, and what steps you can take to relieve your symptoms at home.
After answering a few questions about your symptoms or health concern, you will receive a recommendation based on expert medical advice. Recommendations include:
- Getting help now by visiting emergency room
- Getting help soon by visiting UHS or an urgent care center
- Self-care with recommendations for managing your symptoms at home
Any information you share in the symptom checker tool is private and will not be stored or shared.
While the feedback you receive in the symptom checker tool is based on expert recommendations from clinical providers, the information you share through the tool is not reviewed by a provider and will not be shared with your UHS provider if you are a current patient. You may want to save or print the information you receive to reference as you speak with your provider.
