To the campus community,
The University of Wisconsin–Madison is committed to the health of the campus community. Since we notified campus on Monday about a positive measles case in a UW–Madison student, campus teams have been deeply involved in a response. We are writing with additional updates.
First, the student’s health continues to improve and they are no longer considered infectious. Over the past week, the student has provided vital information to public health officials in their efforts to understand the times and specific areas where they may have inadvertently exposed others to measles.
Since the Public Health Madison & Dane County and Wisconsin Department of Health Services investigation began, PHMDC has shared additional locations and times of potential exposure on campus, on Madison Metro buses, and in the Madison community.
The most up to date information on potential locations of exposure can be found on the Public Health Madison & Dane County website.

If you were in any of these locations during the listed times, please review the UHS measles guidance for appropriate next steps.
If you were exposed and are NOT vaccinated against measles, for your safety and the safety of our entire campus community, you are required to quarantine for 21 days after exposure in accordance with public health guidance from Public Health Madison and Dane County. This means staying home and separate from other members of your household during this period.
If you are a student, contact UHS for additional information and instructions by calling 608-265-5600 (option 1). All others, contact your health care provider.
Check your vaccination status to determine if you are protected against measles
If you are not sure of your vaccination status, you can look it up in your state’s immunization registry. Wisconsin residents can visit the Wisconsin Immunization Registry.
If you are a student, visit MyUHS to confirm that you have shared your vaccination status with campus. You can find instructions for uploading your vaccination records on the UHS website.
